Custom trip plans from David & Keri
Tell us where you’re headed, when, and how you travel (tent, trailer, RV or hotel), and we’ll write you a plan for your trip. It’s based on what we learned visiting all 63 original U.S. national parks ourselves, checked against the current official park rules.

What’s in a plan
- Day-by-day itinerary built around your dates, your pace and how many days you have, including which order to see things in.
- Where to camp or stay: the campgrounds and loops we’d pick for your rig or tent, how and when to book them, and backups if they’re full.
- Hikes that fit you, matched to your fitness and time, plus any permits or lotteries you need and when they open.
- Town picks: the gateway town we’d base in, and where we’d eat and stock up.
- Our firsthand tips for that park: what we’d do differently and what most visitors miss.
- Current rules and closures for your dates, with links to the official NPS and Recreation.gov pages so you can double-check.
Sample outline
Here’s the shape of a plan. The real one is written for your park, dates and rig.
Example: a 4-day trip to one park
- Before you go: reservation and permit dates to put on your calendar, entry and pass details, what to pack for that season.
- Day 1, arrive: drive-in route (with notes for trailers and RVs), check in at your campground or lodging, an easy first-evening walk.
- Day 2, the big hike: our pick for your fitness level, start time to beat crowds and heat, where to park or catch the shuttle.
- Day 3, a second side of the park: scenic drive and shorter hikes, plus a rainy-day or closure backup.
- Day 4, town and departure: where to eat, refuel and dump, and the next park nearby if you’re continuing on.
- Our notes: what we’d do differently, and the mistakes we made so you don’t have to.
